2.3 Installing on Unix

GigaSystemBuilder was developed on a Windows environment. However it has been installed and tested successfully using the following environment

  • Ubuntu 9.0.4
  • Eclipse 3.4.2
  • GigaSpaces 6.6.3
The installation procedure for Unix should be the same as for Windows. The user will have to set up the appropriate preferences for using the GigaSystemBuilder preference page. Note that Unix style directories should be used. Alternatively the Browse button can be used which should ensure the correct directory structure will be used.

Where shell scripts are generated, such as in the deployment scripts used in Unix targeted deploymentOptions, they are generated according to the Bourne script. This should make the Unix generation as generic as possible. Should you encounter any problems when running GigaSystemBuilder on a Unix environment (or for that matter on a Windows environment) please use the GigaSystemBuilder forum to report said problems.
