1.1 Prerequisites

Below are the prerequisites, with recommended versions, for running GigaSystemBuilder:

• This version of GigaSystemBuilder is for GigaSpaces XAP6.6.x.
• Eclipse Ganymede (3.4.0), in the Eclipse Modelling Tools version. This version is needed to get the EMF tools.
• Java 5 JDK, version 1.5.0 minimum. We test with JDK1.5.0_09. (As of this writing, there was a minor health warning about using Java 6 SE with XAP 6; check before you use Java 6 in production.)
• Windows XP SP2. The system is designed to work under Unix/Linux and we will fix reported bugs, but we don't test on it. Yet.

This plugin is primarily aimed at developers (architects, programmers) rather than modellers, so users should also be proficient in

• Some of the fundamental concepts used in GigaSpaces, like Processing Unit or Space. It's best to have done a training course, but you won't need all the detail - GigaSystemBuilder will take care of that.
• Java development in Eclipse.
